Recovery Coaching

Recovery Coaching for Psychosocial Disability

Structured, strengths-based support for NDIS participants working toward greater independence and stability.

What Is Psychosocial Recovery Coaching?

Psychosocial Recovery Coaching is a capacity-building NDIS support designed specifically for people with psychosocial disability.

It focuses on strengthening a participant's ability to manage mental health challenges, build resilience, and move toward meaningful life goals.

Unlike Support Coordination, recovery coaching centres on the participant's personal growth and functional capacity.

How Recovery Coaching Works

Recovery Coaching is practical and forward-focused.

A recovery coach works alongside the participant to:

The emphasis is on progress, not perfection.

  • Strengthen daily routines
  • Develop coping strategies
  • Increase community participation
  • Build decision-making confidence
  • Navigate setbacks without losing direction
  • Strengthen natural supports

Our Approach

At Life Mental Health, recovery coaching is informed by DBT principles and trauma-aware practice.

This means:

Participants experience steady support rather than reactive intervention.

  • Emotional regulation skills are reinforced
  • Goals are broken into achievable steps
  • Setbacks are handled calmly and constructively
  • Coaches collaborate closely with therapy providers

Recovery Coaching vs Support Coordination

These services are different.

Support Coordination focuses on implementing the NDIS plan and connecting services.

Recovery Coaching focuses on strengthening the participant's personal capacity and independence.

Many participants use both. You can also explore In-home & Community Support as a complementary option.
